When billionaire Tyler Day recognizes her at a party, she fears he’ll call her out, but surprises her when he invites her to be his date at a charity gala. As they spend more and more time together, Belle questions if there’s a better way to be a billionaire or if her feelings for Tyler are clouding her judgement. A NEW NOVEL IN THE NATIONALLY BEST-SELLING RCN MILITARY SF SERIES! Leary and Mundy are back in another military science fiction adventure as they undertake a mission to a distant but critical star system. IT'S JUST A REBELLION IN A DISTANT STAR CLUSTER. Captain Daniel Leary thinks that his marriage will allow him to slip into the quiet role of a naval officer in peacetime. His friend, the spy and cybrarian Adele Mundy, is content to be collating data in her library. But high officials of both superpowers are involved! Those who want Daniel and Adele to become involved in the Tarbell Stars claim that only they can prevent a war between the Republic of Cinnabar and its great rival, the Alliance of Free Stars. The conflict is political, but at the sharp end it means blazing warfare and cold-blooded murder. Daniel and Adele will be at the sharp end. The odds in ships and guns are badly in the enemy's favor. Daniel, Adele, and the crew of the Princess Cecile will do everything humanly possible, but that may not be enough against an enemy battleship. And even if Daniel and his companions succeed in battle, they can't be sure whether their employersreally wanted them to win—or whether they even want them alive. All they can do is to race forward, hoping to come through into DEATH'S BRIGHT DAY. At the publisher's request, this title is sold without DRM (Digital Rights Management). This book is divided into two sections: poetry and prose. All the contents represent a lifetime of experience, observation, thought, and reflection. I must confess that my view of life has been influenced by many poets and writers. Perhaps my favorite poet, among many others, is the English poet John Keats. One of my favorite writers, again among many others, is Thomas Hardy, another Englishman. In reflecting upon my own writing, I cannot name any writer who has influenced my style. In my opinion, a writer’s style is the most important feature of his or her writing. A writer’s style reflects not only a view of life but a sensitivity to the emotional thrust of the writing. My aim in the writings in this book is to combine my view of life with a sensitivity to the many emotions that it creates. My wish, dear reader, is that you find at least a suggestion of something that may enrich your experience.

"I would go into the deeps a hundred times to cheer a downcast spirit; it is good for me to have been afflicted that I might know how to speak a word in season to one that is weary." --Charles Spurgeon Millions read the words of the great nineteenth-century preacher Charles Spurgeon without knowing that his ministry succeeded during seasons of overwhelming emotional pain. Bright Days, Dark Nights offers a first look for many at the deep depression this great man of God encountered. Spurgeon confronted emotional problems with an acceptance based on physical, emotional, and spiritual causes and cures. Drawing from Spurgeon's enormous collection of sermons and conversations, author and therapist Elizabeth Skoglund provides insight into subjects such as confidence, depression, and anxiety. Readers will find strength and comfort for themselves and others in this unique blending of biblical principles and psychological wholeness.

From the best-selling author of Bright Lights, Big City: a sexy, vibrant, cross-generational New York story--a literary and commercial triumph of the highest order. Even decades after their arrival, Corrine and Russell Calloway still feel as if they’re living the dream that drew them to New York City in the first place: book parties or art openings one night and high-society events the next; jobs they care about (and in fact love); twin children whose birth was truly miraculous; a loft in TriBeCa and summers in the Hamptons. But all of this comes at a fiendish cost. Russell, an independent publisher, has superb cultural credentials yet minimal cash flow; as he navigates a business that requires, beyond astute literary judgment, constant financial improvisation, he encounters an audacious, potentially game-changing—or ruinous—opportunity. Meanwhile, instead of chasing personal gain in this incredibly wealthy city, Corrine devotes herself to helping feed its hungry poor, and she and her husband soon discover they’re being priced out of the newly fashionable neighborhood they’ve called home for most of their adult lives, with their son and daughter caught in the balance. Then Corrine’s world is turned upside down when the man with whom she’d had an ill-fated affair in the wake of 9/11 suddenly reappears. As the novel unfolds across a period of stupendous change—including Obama’s historic election and the global economic collapse he inherited—the Calloways will find themselves and their marriage tested more severely than they ever could have imagined.
