God has a plan for your life. More often than not, it’s a detour, one that can leave you feeling temporarily stalled and slowed down. Which nobody likes. But detours are necessary if any improvements are going to be made on the paths we travel. Or if any wreck is going to be cleaned up or a hazard avoided. Detours are designed for our own good, regardless of how we view or feel about them. Detours are a good thing that often feels bad. Tony knows a thing or two about detours, and one of the things he knows for certain is that God works through detours to bring about His blessing. To deliver you to the place He has created just for you. Yet what we often do is try as hard as we can to work our own way to the circumstances we believe are best for us. Using examples from the life of Joseph, Tony will leave readers with answers to the following questions: How do you find the destiny God has designed for your life? How can you make the most of the detours God has planned for you? Is there a way to shorten a detour and speed up your progression in life? What is the purpose of a detour?

A Checkered Path to Destiny is about the survival of a young man born in a rural area of Jamaica into the Lower Class of Society. It tells of his constant desire to find a place to call home and a fit for him in Jamaican society. Ivan really digs deep to open a window to the world he survived. Every child has the right to a name, a home and an education. Sadly, a lack of those basic rights plus hunger and abuse all became a normal part of Ivans severely limited childhood. Some of the odds against him were: a broken home, being placed as a servant in the care of others, a lack of education and many of his trials were self-imposed. The Checkered Path in Jamaica took a dramatic turn that changed his life forever. Ivan indicates in this book that he has always been inspired by people of high moral values and fortitude. These were people he held up as role models, and chose to emulate throughout his life. As a result, he learns very early in life that all good opportunities come and go and like a moving platform one must chose to either hop on or watch in bewilderment as it gets out of reach. Unfortunately as he grew older, he did not always practice what he had learned. A Checkered Path to Destiny will horrify, intrigue and delight people of all ages globally. Perhaps you will smile as you read this book, and even question the authors rational for being so candid about certain events, but in this writing his history shows not what he wished it could have been, but what was and what is. This book explores and revisits the concept of sublimation, in its various aspects and implications that it has in theory and clinical psychoanalysis, and also in its broader socio-cultural aspects. The basic assumption that aroused the author's interest in the topic is a certain surprise in observing how sublimation in psychoanalysis is in general spoken about less in contemporary discourse: so is it an outdated concept, an endangered species? Does it belong to the archaeology of psychotherapy? Or, on the contrary, is it so much a part of analytical practice and so well established and implicit in theory that it is not necessary to discuss it any more? It is the prevailing opinion of the author that sublimation is nowadays expressed differently and has undergone a sort of anthropological mutation, as has happened to several Freudian concepts with the changing historical and cultural contexts.
